The Egyptian government has launched a new project to develop the work environment for export procedures at Egyptian ports, according to a joint statement issued by the Ministries of Finance and Investment & Foreign Trade.

The statement explained that the initiative began with the establishment of advanced inspection and clearance units in export yards, aimed at enhancing logistics efficiency.

These units are designed to be environmentally friendly and expandable, in order to accommodate the growing volume of export activity.

Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, confirmed that the government is currently modernizing the export system in a manner similar to the logistics service centers developed for import operations.

The goal is to build an integrated export ecosystem aligned with international best practices and standards, to simplify procedures for exporters—especially as export support allocations have risen to EGP 45 billion in the current fiscal year’s budget to boost the global competitiveness of Egyptian products.

The ministers added that export procedures will be digitally re-engineered to accelerate documentation cycles and reduce costs, with broader use of artificial intelligence technologies to streamline processes and facilitate customs workflows.

They also highlighted that the Nafeza digital platform now covers more than 130 customs sites and connects 35 government entities electronically, contributing to smoother trade flows and improved customs efficiency across Egypt’s ports.
